With some football club chairmen and players turning into racehorse owners the possibility of a football club offering season ticket holders a share in a racehorse is being suggested as a future way of keeping fans loyal.
Being part of a racing syndicate is seen as an interesting pastime, especially during the close season for those already involved in football. Its a social investment allowing people to have fun and do something enjoyably different. Visiting the stables, going racing, having the benefit of owners private box hospitality and just generally living the experience of having a racehorse.
Syndicate Managers run the investment in a horse on behalf of the people putting in big or small amounts of money. The syndicate managers do all the paperwork and ensure that the trainer is developing the horse to the best of its ability whilst as owner you have a great time.
A football club, by launching a branded Racing Club, can provide fans with the opportunity to become racehorse owners and become involved in a sport that is loved by so many within the football world. Increase in direct revenue is vital to football clubs outside the Premiership, and by having a Racing Club the football club can benefit from having revenue earning events, racedays, branded giftware and apparel and new sponsorship opportunities with existing and new sponsors.
DGA Racing can manage the whole process on behalf of the football club, developing the structure to suit the football club, sourcing racehorses and trainers, co-ordinating events and communication, and all the administration and ongoing management to make sure the Racing Club is a success. As one League 1 Commercial Director said to me recently “Its no different to outsourcing our Hospitality Catering”
