RACE ANALYSIS: HEARTSTRING GOES FOURTH AT RIPON

August 28, 2018

HEARTSTRING had her third race and the first at Ripon today in the  Download The Free At The Races App Fillies' Novice Stakes (Plus 10 Race) 5f, Class 5, £3,881.40 . Going was Good To Soft and Soft in places although to the untrained eye it still appeared a Good surface.

HEARTSTRING  was looking to improve again and this time had Joe Fanning on board.  HEARTSTRING showed impeccable manners in the preliminaries and went to the start in a relaxed manner.

Heartstring  was out of the stalls promptly and led the field until 1 furlong out. She seemed to miss a beat and this  loss of momentum allowed GOLDEN CIRCLE to get in front. With the race lost Joe was kind to the filly and eventually came in fourth.

HEARTSTRING has improved a little with each outing and will now get a an Official Rating next Tuesday. Nurseries are an option now and it shouldn't be too long before we see her in the winners enclosure.

There were one or two noteworthy efforts in this novice race.

GOLDEN CIRCLE, second at Thirsk on debut and infront of Heartstring, took a lead late on this time and picked up well to win convincingly. She's clearly a decent sort, capable of better, and it'll be interesting to see if she takes in another novice under a penalty or goes up in grade.

Sophia Maria again showed ability but the drop to 5f didn't suit. She finished her race off nicely and can win a small race, with nurseries an option now also.

Magical Duchess is improving and she ought to be able to pick up a little nursery, with the step up to 6f very much going to be in her favour.

Amazing Alba hasn't built on a promising debut, but there's hope for her yet in nurseries. Her current rating of 73 is no picnic, though.
