Its is with great sadness that I have to tell you that after consultations with the Vet and Ann Duffield, our trainer, UP THE MILLERS was humanely put down. The cellulitis he had contracted had failed to respond to treatment and had entered the rear leg joint capsule. There were signs of laminitis in his other leg as a result of the the increased load placed upon it. The horse was unable to stand and was in pain. We did what was in the best interests of the horse.
UP THE MILLERS was a horse with a great future in front of him. He was big and bolshy and had a great character. All concerned are absolutely gutted and in a state of shock. Those members who have had the privilege to meet him will miss him greatly. UP THE MILLERS another Millers legend who we will remember and the Racing Club will never forget.
